Exercise 2 from Yoga Mindfulness Book

Tools: No prompts needed

Ages: 2+

Malasana or Froggy Pose

Squats are one of the most effective ways to tone the entire lower body. This exercise works the quadriceps, hamstring, gluteal, and calf muscles of the legs, plus, it strengthens the lower back and core.

NOTE: Use this pose when kids are active and have energy that they cannot control. Only 5-6 reps of MALASANA and your child is

ready for concentration.

  1. Start by standing with your legs a little wider than hip-distance.

  2. Turn your feet out to the sides, but only as much as feels comfortable.

  3. Start lowering your bottom down to the floor while bending your knees. Ideally, you should have your knees turned outwards over your toes, if possible.

  4. Put your hands on the floor, jump up and “Rib-bit!” like a frog. Practice a variety of small, medium and big jumps.
